TRYOUT INFO

OVERVIEW:

For the Spring Season, Encino Little League requires tryouts for all players League Age 7-14. YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE PLACED ON A TEAM IF HE/SHE DOES NOT ATTEND HIS/HER TRYOUT SESSION.
Tryouts are a way for us to evaluate each player's skill level so we can create balanced teams. The Player Agent and Team managers who will be drafting your child's age group will be present to see them.
Tryouts are held in mid-January. Tryout Schedule will be posted when available.
League Age 4 -6 Players do not have tryouts.
There are no tryouts for the Fall Season.

DAY OF TRYOUTS:

Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your child's scheduled time to check-in.
Your child should attend tryouts in appropriate baseball attire (pants and cleats preferred) and will need to bring a glove, helmet (with face mask), and a USA baseball bat. Boys should wear an athletic cup.
You will be notified of your Player's team and coach after the division drafts which in late January or early February.
League Age 4 -6 Players will be will be notified of their team and coach in mid-February.

Tryout Schedules

Tryouts are required for AAA Division (machine pitch) and older (this generally covers league age 7 and older players). YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE PLACED ON A TEAM IF HE/SHE DOES NOT ATTEND A TRYOUT SESSION.

League Age 4 - 6 Players (Wee Ball, Rookie and AA Divisions) DO NOT HAVE TRYOUTS.

Spring Season tryouts for most Divisions will be held on the weekend of January 10th/11th.

For those trying out, all players will be slotted into times on Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th. If your child cannot make their tryout time, please let us know asap at: [email protected] and we will slot them into a time on the makeup weekend, Saturday, January 24th. It is imperative that your child makes their tryout over one of these two weekends. If they miss both tryout weekends, they may not be eligible to play in the Spring and will be replaced by a player from the waitlist.

Tryouts will generally consist of fielding a few ground balls / fly balls and throwing to the designated base, hitting a few pitches and running the bases. In kid pitch divisions, players may also be asked to throw a few pitches and/or catch a pitch and throw down to second base.

Tryouts for most Divisions will take place on the Minors Field or the Majors Field. Please be sure to show up with enough time to check-in at the check-in table and proceed to the correct field. Tryouts typically take about 20-30 minutes.

Saturday, January 10th - Majors Field (Ages 10-12)
Saturday, January 10th - Minors Field (Ages 8-9)
Saturday, January 10th - Pony Field (Ages 13-15)
Sunday, January 11th - Majors Field (Age 10 cont.)
Sunday, January 11th - Minors Field (Ages 7-8)
